Symptoms

Signs your system needs repair

Most breakdowns give warning signs first. Call us if you notice any of these:

  • No heat or no cooling, or air that isn't as warm or cool as it should be
  • The system turns on and off every few minutes
  • Rooms that never reach the thermostat setting
  • Grinding, buzzing, squealing or banging noises
  • Water pooling around the indoor unit
  • Ice on the outdoor unit or the refrigerant lines
  • A burning or electrical smell
  • Energy bills that jump without a reason

Before you call: quick checks

  • Thermostat set to Heat or Cool, at the right temperature
  • A clean air filter
  • Breakers and the furnace switch on
  • Outdoor unit clear of leaves, snow and debris

How it works

What happens on a repair visit

Here is what to expect when an Alliance technician comes out.

1
Diagnosis

We test the system, including controls, electrical parts, airflow and refrigerant or gas operation, to find the actual cause.

2
Clear options

You hear what we found and the price before any repair work begins.

3
Repair

With your OK, we make the repair. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you and schedule the return visit.

4
Test

We run the system and confirm it heats or cools the way it should before we leave.

Repair or replace

Repair or replace?

A repair is usually the smart choice when the part is small and the system is otherwise healthy. Replacement may make more sense when:

  • A major part fails on an older system
  • Repairs keep adding up year after year
  • Some rooms are never comfortable
  • Your energy bills keep climbing

We'll give you both options so you can decide. Complete system replacements come with a free estimate.
