Sizing & efficiency

Sizing and efficiency (SEER2)

Sizing

An oversized AC short-cycles: it shuts off before it removes humidity, leaving the house clammy. An undersized one runs nonstop. We size to your home and look at your ductwork.

SEER2 efficiency

SEER2 is the current efficiency rating for central air. A higher SEER2 uses less electricity for the same cooling; we'll explain the trade-off in upfront cost.

Matched systems

Pairing with your furnace

A central AC is half of a system. The outdoor unit works with an indoor coil and the blower in your furnace or air handler.

  • We check that the indoor coil matches the new outdoor unit
  • We check whether your furnace blower can move the airflow the new AC needs
  • If your furnace is aging too, we'll show you the option of replacing both together
